The Need Grows

The holiday season is a busy time of the year, and we are anticipating a 20% increase in demand to help the families of Palm Beach County as we’ve experienced with past holidays.

In the two weeks following Thanksgiving, Restoration Bridge International is hosting at least 10 food distributions in partnership with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. At our food distributions and through our community partners, RBI will redistribute roughly 750,000 pounds of food and essential goods to our neighbors in need.

Every Saturday morning, lines for our food distribution at the Boynton Beach Mall start forming early. Recently, we met Mike who is one of the first people in line, consistently arriving around 3am, patiently waiting nearly six hours for the event to start at 9am.

We invited Mike to our warehouse to hear his story. He explained that it is difficult to make ends meet with high prices at grocery stores and a weak job market. Mike uses the groceries received from Restoration Bridge to provide for the four generations living in his home including his 82-year-old mother, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Our visit with Mike at our warehouse led to a conversation about serving with our organization. Instead of waiting in line for groceries this past Saturday, Mike decided to help us as a volunteer. Mike’s experience epitomizes our organization’s story of neighbors helping neighbors.
